In our company, we all volunteer from our CEO to the care team and community of volunteers. The heart of the volunteer is our company’s DNA. When you volunteer with us, we will give you the training, skills, and confidence to supportively care, empathize, and guide our families and patients through illness, grief, and loss.

We ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of two-four hours a month for at least one year to ensure continuity of care and build meaningful relationships with our patients and their families​​.

Are there special requirements or training for hospice volunteers?

Yes, all volunteers must complete a background check, conducted by us, and a Tuberculosis skin test.

Is volunteering in hospice care emotionally challenging?

While volunteering with terminally ill patients can be emotionally demanding, SilverStone Hospice provides thorough training and ongoing support to prepare and support our volunteers through these experiences​​.

Can I volunteer if I have no medical background?

Yes! Hospice volunteers come from all walks of life, and while some roles are medical in nature, many are not. Volunteers contribute in various ways, from providing companionship to helping with administrative tasks or sharing their creative talents. No medical background is required for many of these roles.

Active volunteers can view and complete an on-line Volunteer Visit Note. The completed form will be submitted to the appropriate Volunteer Coordinator for processing. Please remember to submit your notes within 24 hours after your visit is made to ensure compliance.
